Blog 8: ESC

Last Sunday, there was an English Speaking Corner at Marina Bay Sands, which was organized by our befrienders, in order to help us practice our speaking skills.  I was quite interested to participate the activity, because several weeks ago, I had had an oral report to introduce that place, but I never went there.

When we arrived there, we were separated into several groups.  What we needed to do is to solve a case that an employee who was a maid was stabbed to die in the employer’s home.  There were several suspects performed by befrienders we needed to ask for details, who were staying at different spots of Marina Bay Sands.  Therefore, while we were looking for the murder, we could also go through the scenery of every corner of Marina Bay.  I quite enjoyed the shopping center and so many tall buildings.

After asking a lot of questions, we finally agreed with the victim’s friend or her employer, amongst her boyfriend, the agent and the employer’s wife and son.  What impressed me most was a befriender who performed as the nine-year-old son, because he sat on a chair and kept shaking and smiling like a kid.  I laughed a lot because he kept saying “my mama blablabla”.  It was so funny.  When the leader asked the final results of every group, one of our befrienders said,” Let’s vote! The first one is the friend” and then her hand rose.  Before the rest of our members rose hands, another befriender did not heard the word “vote” but only the word “friend” so that she said “OK” and ran away towards the leader too swiftly to be stopped.  We burst into laughter and shouted,” Oh, my god. We have not decided the result at all.”  However, to our surprise, we were the only group who made the right result.  We laughed and enjoyed the snacks we won as gifts.  When we told the others that joke, they all could not imagine how lucky we were.

Having enjoyed the food, we together took MRT to a food club which I was not familiar with to have lunch.  The interesting activity ended with chatting and laughing.  The time we spent with befriends was always gone too fast.
