blog 7

Recently I read a book called FCD(the fifth chinese daughter), which I found is very interseted. Here I would like to write my impression of the book.
As many readers have found, a paradigm which is used to interpret generational conflicts in Asian American texts often marks first-generation immigrants as traditional, backward, repressed and oppressive toward their children and their second-generation American children as progressive and liberated. Thus, generational conflicts or differences are often caused by cultural differences between parents (who are considered very Asian) and children (who are more Americanized). But in FCD, things appear to be different from what we have anticipated, at least, it is not the only thing the writer would like to convey.
On the one hand, as the specific background of this novel, it’s inevitable that the Chineseness” seed rooted in the ground of American democracy is not that easy to grow. From the very early time in Jade Snow’s life, respect and order were the key words in generational relationship. Parents took it for granted that thoughts of a little girl did not matter (She did not voice them). And as the unquestioning obedience was demanded, in many cases, voicing equals to disrespect and challenge to the authority. Even at 5 years old, Jade Snow had learned the meaning of discipline. she would otherwise be whipped because she had knocked older brother’s hat off in fun, or she took a small piece of cloth from clothes factory,or she did not come home at promised time.
What impressed me most is the conflict caused by new slippers which Jade Snow bought with her earnings. According to Daddy's request, who lived and worked with a strong self-discipline, all the members in family were expected to dress up perfectly once he or she got up. A casual style of clothes was unacceptable in father’s mind, in another word, it’s unnecessary to own a pair of slippers at all. Though slippers had never been specifically forbidden, when she wore them at homeshe was still given a lesson and asked to go to public library to look up and report the definition of slippers to Daddy. “Slippers: A kind of light shoe, often and typically one which may be slipped on with ease and wore in undress…” Daddy put emphasis on “undress” and again the unshakable authority of the patriarchal role father led was reinforced. Although we think this plot to some degree ridiculous today, it was from physical and mental punishment that children in Wong’s big family gradually learnt what was proper and what was improper at that time. Thus, all the people either adults or children would be gurarnted act their own roles dutifully......
There are much more I can tell you about the book, but I think only you read it yourself, can you really enjoy the book!

On Tuesday, we hold an interesting class debate. All of us are divided into 4 groups except one time keeper and one chairman. My debate topic is that should women bring up a child alone because she does not want to get married. We are in the opposite part. At first, we think we have a little bit advantage because the situation may not be accepted by boys. However, the results are out of my expectation because we were defeated by the pros at the score 1:8, which was a surprising and amazing outcome to me. During our debate, we can be obviously divided into two parts—prepared and not prepared. We can easily find that prepared people were reading the article he or she got from the internet and the unprepared person were debating his opinion falteringly. Therefore, the performance was not good enough and maybe a little boring. But the most unacceptable thing is the outcome. I really want to know how does the judges assess the debate and what is the standard of their assessment?

Recent Story

Recent story

Recently, our group members are occupied with our final research, which is really a new assignment I have never referred to.  Having changed the topic for many times, including how to buy an airline ticket and travel programs, we eventually make sure the final one, qualification of ideal mates.  By the way, I should say that the path towards the final one we are all consistent with is so uneven, especially the brainstorms we suffered.

Before we started to do the survey, Mrs. Choo had given us much helpful advice.  I cannot remember how many times we have corrected and improved our questionnaire.  At last, Mrs. Choo gave us a complete chart with all questions, which seemed clear and might make readers feel the questions a few.  I showed my roommates our questionnaire and they all thought highly of our way, which is our mentor’s contribution.  We all appreciated our mentor’s high working sprit.  In addition, I have heard of some in other groups couldn’t come into a consistence.  And they sometimes even argued.  On the contrary, I am glad our group always keeps a good harmony and everyone devote to it.

What impressed me is the time when we asked others to help us do the surveys.  At that noon, we ate at arts canteen.  Even when we were having lunch, everyone was trying to look for those students who might be willing to help us.  The moment some students sitting next to our table finished eating, Shuzhi suddenly stood up and asked them to do a survey.  Fortunately, they accepted.  Meanwhile, the rest of us burst into laughter, because we were still eating and Shuzhi’s sudden action really surprised us.  Actually, most of students and professors would like to help us, which moved us.

And now, we are busy with our interpreting about every part.  I believe our research will be ultimately great one.

Blog 7 Something Not About Debate

I intended to talk about something about debate, as Ms Lim suggested.  But at the moment I was going to write something down, I changed my mind, because I realised that I’m not good at it.  I’m not qualified to say something on debate.  The advice I shared in the class was just searched from the Internet.  It sounds reasonable and useful when first heard; for me, however, it isn’t ‘useful’ since I don’t know how to ‘use’ it.

This reminded me of a Chinese saying: it is far more difficult to embroider than to watch someone do.  It means when you watch some doing something, you think it’s easy; however, when you do it by your own, you may find it is very hard.  The saying and the thing I mentioned in first paragraph look different, right?  But essentially, they are the same.  Sometimes, you only know some skills theoretically, but you actually don’t know how to apply them; you only know how it comes out, but you actually don’t know how to make it come out.

This is a common problem that our Chinese students are facing (Otherwise the saying wouldn’t come from China ;)  Of course, I have to admit this fact: although I’m a typical representative of this kind of students, here allows many exceptions. ).  After coming here, I realised this problem even more strongly.  So how to solve it?  I have to ask myself this question.  It is not easy to give a simple answer for anyone, I think, especially for one like me that was stuck in this problem.  Maybe I only need to train myself more and try to change myself and use different ways of thinking.  Do you have any solution?

Ps: maybe that I can’t find the answer is because I’m not good at debate.  Many people think that good debaters are also good at solving problems.  If it is true, I think I’m in a vicious circle!

Blog 7 Far away from home

These days, I am suffering a serious homesickness and have not recovered yet.   I'm eager to go back Jinzhou--my home town.

The main reason of this sickness may be facing the fact that I can’t go back home this summer while the NTU students can.  At the moment I heard this massage, I thought it is really unfair for us.  Why we are treated in a different way?  Why we can't share the same schedule?  Now every time I see the NTU boys in Labrador Hostel I will feel angry.

Another reason is that's I miss my parents, my friends and the delicious food in Jinzhou.  Although I can have video call with my parents every week through the Internet, I still miss them very much.  I wanna go back home to eat the delicious food cooked by my father, talk with my mother for a whole day, and sleep on my own bed.   I wanna go back to Jinzhou to go to KTV, watch movie, or even just chat in the park together with my dear friends.  I wanna go back to my hometown although it is poor and small.

The homesickness is influencing my temper now.  Sometimes I may feel sad suddenly no matter where I am.  I think it is even influencing my study.   However, I have already realised that it is almost impossible for me to go home and I should accept this fact.  And I also realised that it's time for me to study harder, for our bridging course will be over soon.  I hope I can gradually get out of this state and concentrate on studying again!

Blog7: Food in Singapore

Last Monday, I introduced the food in Singapore in my oral report.  However, there are many other dishes in Singapore besides those four dishes. Here I would like to introduce you another 2 dishes.

The first dish I want to introduce to you is Satay.  This dish quite looks like our Mutton String(Yang Rou Chuan) from Xinjiang.  However, the taste is different.  I think we all have eaten this dish when we barbecued during the camp.   Satay is usually cooked with jerk chichen, mutton or beef.  The key of the attractive taste comes from the sauce, which is made from peanut butter, kaya and shrimp paste and so on.  This dish originates from Malayshia and that how the name comes from is  very intersesting.  It is said that when Fujianese first came to Singapore, they saw some Malays were selling Kebab.  However, they did not know the language they spoke.  They saw that there were three pieces of meat on each stick, so they call in "three pieces of meat". (in Haokan means Satay)  Therefore, Satay got its name among people.

The second dish comes from India, named Roti Prata.  Many Singaporeans like to have it as breakfast.  The process to cook Prata is unique.  First, the cook regularly throw the dough in to the air until it turns to the shape of a pie.  Then the cook throw it into the pan.  After the pie gets a little plump, the cook carefully move the pie to another smaller pan to grill with a strong fire.  Within 3 minutes, the coustomer can enjoy the hot, delicious Prata.  Prata can be cooked with eggs or not, just according to personal preference.  you can also use your hand to eat Prata, just like Indians do, which can be more enjoyable.

After reading my introduction, do yu want to have a try by yourself ?  Just take an action. You can not miss it.

Reflections of the movie If Only

Last Sunday, I watched a movie made in 2004 called If Only. At first, it tells a dream that the man called Ian had. The dream is about the last day of Ian' lovely musician girlfriend Sam who loves Ian very much. Ian is a successful businessman, but most time, he just takes Sam' s deep love for granted and seldom gives enough care and attention to her. Still on Sam's last day, he focuses much on his work and negelects her, even her important graduate performance. In his dream, then at the 11 o'clock, Sam has a car accident in the car that she gets on after she quarrels with Ian. The serious accident makes her lose life. Ian is heartbroken to death. And after back to house, he see the diary of Sam and begins to recall the love and care she gives him. It makes  him very painful and regrets what he has done to his so good girlfriend. Fortunately, it is just a dream.
After he wakes up, he finds that everything happens just as it did in the dream, except that the order and the form of things change. This makes him afraid, because he is afraid of really losing Sam. So he trys his best to give her happiness, and also, during that time, he feels again and again how good his girlfriend is and how bad he is before. However, unfortunate thing finally comes. They meet the same taxi and the same driver at 11 clock as they did in the dream. Ian makes sure that it is their destiny. But this time, instead of quarreling, he gets on the taxi with her and protects her when the car crashes the taxi. He dies finally and leaves Sam alone.
The love story touches me and more importantly, it reminds me of some lessons. We should cherish the things we have already had now, especially the love among us. It is a easy lesson but we seldom can do it. What we always do is to take all of them for granted and persue other things that we do not own. To be honest, many times, I do not care and appreciate much about the help and care from my friends. Instead, I care and thank more for the favour a acquaintance gives me. That is totally wrong and unfair. After watching the movie, I began to imagine that if I lose all my friends, what my life will be. So I realized that I need them and I really appreciate all they have given me. Thanks, my friends and all the people giving me the love.

Blog 8: the Survey

Recently SM3 students are busy with their project. One of the main steps of doing the project is to carry out a survey. The purpose of the project of our group is to find out how individuals’ criteria of an ideal mate change as their life stages change. Compared to the groups whose project topics are concerned with university students, our group faces a difficulty where we need to conduct the survey among the undergraduate students, unmarried graduates, and the married people. The process of carrying out the survey was interesting.
We started our survey on Wednesday and everything went on well. Our group of five lingered about the Arts’ Canteen at lunch time. Whenever we saw someone who had just finished the meal, one of us would go to the person and requested him or her to fill a questionnaire. It seemed that most people did not mind to spare a few minutes to do us a favor and almost no one rejected my requests. Moreover, we encountered senior SM3 students and they helped us to distribute the questionnaires to their fellows. At last, we got lots of filled questionnaires and were very optimistic about the progress.
However, the next days, problems began to arouse. As our filled questionnaires are mostly from undergraduate students, we had to focus more on graduates and married people. At lunch time on Thursday I was assigned to involve the tutors in CELC who we thought would be married. The first two tutors I asked were so kind to help, while the latter ones, who were having lunch together in a room, chatting and laughing, took me for nothing. Not only did they refuse me hastily but one of them even blamed me for stumbling into the ‘forbidden area’ of CELC! It was not a pleasant experience then but looking back I thought it was kind of fun.
On Friday, I was assigned 8 questionnaires for married ones. Again at lunch time, I lingered about the science canteen, searching for married individuals. Just like the day before, most were friendly and helpful, some refused me, and some showed a lack of politeness and respect. I found myself gradually adapted to different circumstances and immune to negative responses. To my pleasure, this time I was more productive than I had been the former days.
From this experience I learned how to work as a team member and strengthened my communication skills. I also learned how to deal with negative responses. I was grateful to the people who contributed to our survey.

Blog 7:How to lose weight

Beauty is the forever pursuit of most girls, and I am no exception.  The appearance is hard to change, so the best and fast way to become more beautiful is to lose weight.  Before I went to the Shandong University, I had never thought to lose weight because I was thin and in good figure.  However, during two months in Shandong, I weighed another 10 kilograms.  Therefore, it is time to lose weitht.

1.     Losing weight needs actual actions

When I went home from Shandong, I always told others that I needed to lose weight.  However, my reaction of losing weight was limited in telling everyone that I had to lose weight.  The result was obvious that I did not be thinner but became a little fatter.  At that time, I did not care about it for I wore a lot of clothes in winter and nobody could notice my figure.  In conclusion, my first trial of losing weight failed.

2.     Losing weight needs right methods

When I arrived in Singapore, I suddenly found that many beautiful clothes were not suitable for me any more.  For example, a pair of my jeans could be wore in winter when I wore another two pairs of trousers under it.  However, I could not wear it because it was too tight for me.  The same situations happened for many times and they hurt me badly.  As a result, I made my decision that I must lose weight.  From then on, I tried to eat as less food as I could.  At noon, my lunch is just some pieces of bread.  The process of losing weight was very difficult, but I did not lose any weight and the crazy way of losing weight influenced my health.  Then I quitted it.

3. The most suitable ways for me to lose weight
These days, I tried another way to lose weight and it worked well.  In a week, I lost a kilogram.  Let me share the good ways for everybody who wants to lose weight.  For food, I just have vegetables, fruits, some milk and nuts.  Whenever I wanted to eat meat, I just eat some fish rather than pork or chicken.  And I try to lessen the quantity of food I need.  For exercise, I did not do any exercise on purpose.  My tip is that stand as long as you can.  If not necessary, do not sit.  When reading, I stand.  When eating, I stand.  When doing some work, I stand.  These ones that I stated above are the whole things I did in last week and they truly worked.

Believe me, try to lose weight from now on.  After one week, you will find you are different.

Blog 7:Home letter

Recently, I surprisingly received two letters. After reading them, I found I couldn't speak a word for a while.
In fact, the two letters are in one envelope. The first one is from my mom. Although we frequently have phone talks, she still contacted with me in this way. In the letter she talked about her recent feelings and recent things around my family. I like this kind of feeling.  To be honest, I didn’t feel homesick in Singapore. Frequent communication shortens our distance greatly. Though it is my first time to stay away from my family longer than one month, I feel I’m not alone. Though I have to undertake more responsibility and workload, I just regard it a necessary part of growing up.
If the first letter makes me feel warm, the second letter makes me astonished and moved. It’s from my little younger sister.  I never thought she could write to me at the age of seven. Though the words don’t look well, they are actually the most beautiful words to me. Though the letter is short and contains some nonsense, I consider it as a fairly precious gift. My mother always complains about her study. But I just see an intelligent but naughty girl.
Besides two letters, there is a lucky amulet in the letter. The letter contains the best wishes to me. It’s one of the best gift I have ever received.

Blog 7: Keep Investing Even You Cannot See the Yield

"In our lives, many things we have done are just in vain."  This is from a movie named You Are the Apple of My Eye.  However, I cannot agree.  After hearing some complains from my friends, I want to write something about pain and gain.
Everything has its own purpose, I believe that. Every single thing you have done or met can be a part of your success or a part of your failure.  A child who likes stealing candies may be a thief years later; The first aid skill you have learned in school may help you save a life in the future.  Some of us are doubting our efforts today, for we are not sure whether they are worth doing and we are afraid that what if we get nothing after striving for a long time.  But from my perspective, it will never happen like that.
We feel scared of darkness because we cannot see anything and cannot control the situations.  Likewise, we doubt our efforts only because they cannot repay our efforts in a short-run period.  However, in my opinion, they will, definitely, repay in a occasional way.  In the movie The Pursuit of Happiness.  Chris , a poor salesman, occasionally holds the attention from a manager by just finishing a magic square.  Coincidentally, that manager is playing a crucial role in his interview.  Eventually, he gets a important opportunity from the manager and finally succeeds in his career, which to some extant, starts from the magic square.  Who could predict that his success would be so tightly related with a little magic square when we see him playing it at home?
Just do what we think is right and never count the results and worry about them, and success will approach us in its own way.

Blog 8: My childhood in the countryside

When I was young, my parents were very busy.  My mother had to commute every day and my father often went out on business.  They were so busy that I was sent to countryside so that my grandparents could look after me.

I think it is the most wonderful time in my life since I had nothing to worry about.  I spent most of my time there playing with my close friends in the fields and hills.  We often caught fish and all kinds of insects together and we even made praying mantises eat grasshoppers!  We also played many kinds of games such as using a glass ball to knock other glass balls into a hole; using triangle hard paper made by cigarettes’ shell packaging to make others upside down and so on.  We often flew the kite made by ourselves in a big vacant lot on the hill which actually carried our dreams into the sky.  And we used to secretly follow the ox-cart coming from the farmlands which was filled with peanuts to pick up dropping peanuts.

There was a time when all of my aunts and uncles gathered together in Spring Festival.  They sat on the Kangtou and chatted together.  My uncles often played mahjong overnight and aunts played cards with me and my cousins.  The meal was well cooked in the caldron and the whole family ate together on Kangtou.   Could you imagine such a warm scene?  As far as me, the most interesting thing was setting off fireworks.  Watching the colorful sparks flying across the night sky, we couldn’t be happier.  In case I set off all fireworks at a time, my grandpa always hid some and gave me a part, telling us there was no more.  However, to our surprise, he could always give us another part the next day.  What a kind grandfather!  He loves his grandson so much that he never blamed us.

After my grandpa passing away, my parents sold the old house in the countryside and bought a new house for my grandma near my home and hired a nursery maid to look after her.  Every summer vocation, I still went to the countryside—one of my aunts lived there.  I could not forget that place where I spent my happiest time in my life. The temperature was very high in countryside’s summer.  Therefore, my aunt bought many watermelons and other fruits for me and my cousin.  My aunt’s house was villa.  We let the front door and the back door open to let the wind go through, we sat on the second floor, eating the watermelon, overlooking boundless fields, cool and happy.

In short, I have a happy childhood which I will never forget.  And my dream is to live there again when I was old, happily and relaxed every day…

Blog 7 "5C" of Singaporeans

The topic of my blog today is about the pursuit of Singaporeans. Mr.Ng introduced the "5C" to us. Here comes the "5C" I found from the Internet: car, credit card, cash, condominium, clubcard. "Condominium" refers to a type of private department. Now I'm going to put forward my opinions on the "5C".

I have to say that the Singaporeans are keen on the material comforts. Car, cash, and credit card are all the symbols of wealth. Actually, this is reproachless for them. It is hard for them not to pursue the cozy life when they live in such a "comfortable" city. The ordinary Singaporeans get married and start their family, sets up a company and participate in some charity activities. They often choose to travel abroad in their leisure time. These are the components of the standard life of Singaporeans. From my perspective, this prosaic life seems short of passion and excitement, especially for the youths. Just as Mr.Wu Zuodong addressed in a party, although Singapore will continue to develop in the future, the youths of Singapore should not attach too much importance on the side of substance. They are expected to do their best for their future goals.

This is the new "5C" which was advocated by Mr. Wu: Career, Comfort, Children, Considerate, and Charitable. Here I want to talk about "Children" and "Considerate". "Children" means surrounding oneself children, which is kind of interesting. My understanding is that the youths should enjoy making friends with children, whose childlike innocence can provide smart ideas and keep the adults from the temptation of money and reputation. As for “Considerate”, I reckon that consideration can render harmonious interpersonal relationships to people. Some Singaporeans need to strengthen their sense of responsibility. They are expected to make contribution to the development of the country. For instance, the water issue of Singapore has not been tackled yet. Maybe they ought to concentrate more on the domestic events.

This is my viewpoint on the “5C” of Singaporeans. It is time for them to make some changes on their pursuit.

Blog 7: My experience in the interview of USP

Prof A: an American
Prof B: a Singaporean Chinese

Me: nice to meet you! (Shake hands with PA)
Nice to meet you, too! (Shake hands with PB)
       May I sit down?

PA: yes, please take your seat.

Me: thank you very much.

PA: ok, please tell me why you want to join USP?

Me: well, first, the small size of the class attracts me most.  In the small class, I have more opportunities to provide my own ideas with other international students and professors and digest their thoughts as well.  I love debate; I am always willing to exchange my ideas with others.  I love debate so much that I even rejected the offer from Hong Kong University.  It is a very interesting story; can I tell you about that?

PA: sure.

Me: In the interview, when we were talking about the benefits of population explosion, other students talked about social benefits, including adequate labour.  However, I came with an idea of biological benefits. Some special, rare but important genes can only be reserved in a large group of people.  I think debate helped me a lot to get an offer from HKU; however I rejected it because I chose WHU; WHU it has the best debate team in China.  It may sound crazy, but I really love debate. Secondly, I want to join in USP because the competition is fierce and I am always willing to face challenges.  Although I am not a Christian, I always remember a story about two farmers, who desperately needed rain.  Both of them prayed for rain, but only one of them prepared his fields to receive it.  At the end of the story, there are two questions: Which one will God send rain to?  And which one are you? Hence, the competition will challenge me to move further, reaching my potential, to where I did not anticipate before.  I always tell myself, just work as hard as you can and see what will happen.

PB: I see, except from debate, what else are you interested in?

Me: history, politics, literature....

PB: which book do you like most about history?

Me: pardon…?

PB: ……

Me: I am reading<1587, a year of no significance>; the writer thinks about big history- not only concentrate in certain significant events but think about history as a whole.  When I learned about using coordinate system to deal with geometry problems in<mathematics and philosophy>, I can feel the same idea-thinking as a whole can bring in some unexpected results.  I find that different books have relations, so it is hard for me to select a particular book that I like most.

PA: any books about politics?

Me: Sorry…? About what…?

PA: ……

Me: I am reading <野火集>written by Long Yingtai, a Taiwanese.

PA: ok, do you think China will take over Taiwan? Because China is becoming stronger

Me: I think this may not happen recently because I think Chinese are very…ok…quotation marks… we are not aggressive; we will not hurt others if we are not hurt.

PA: well, why Chinese are “tame”, what is the origin of this?

Me: well…well…I will find it out in USP…

PA: if Taiwanese vote to be independent, what do you think PRC government should do?

Me: I think people’s will should be respected; we cannot force them to join us.  The most important thing is that the well beings of people in two sides can be promoted.  But we are all Chinese so we can still integrate with each other to move further, making progress together.

PA: so what do you think about Tibet? Should Tibet be independent? You know some people protest against central government.

Me: I think those people are just minority of the whole population in Tibet.

PA: how did you know that?

Me: I have been to Lhasa and talked to many local people.  A lot of them appreciate what the government have done for them, including the railways and the airport.  Some people complain that sometimes government force them to do something, for example to have a TV; however, government now respect them more and I believe the condition will be better.

PB: ok, thank you very much. Do you have something to ask us?

Me:I wonder whether there is a debate corner in USP? Because I want to invite more students to share ideas together and this is also one way that I can contribute to the school.

PA: yes

Me: ok, another question, can I be an assistant in the writing centre?  I am a member of Hubei provincial writers’ association and I am always willing to contribute to the class, the school, the whole society.

PA: in year 2 or 3 you can

An Interesting Elementary Mathematics Problem

On Thursday, Mrs. Choo always appoints three oral reporters to give their reports simultaneously at three small groups. After all the persons have done once, they all should shift their places and give another report to a different group. Suppose there are three reporters named A, B and C and three groups--1, 2 and 3. Now, suppose who are giving their oral reports at group 1, 2 and 3 are respectively A, B and C. After that, everyone should shift their places. And there are just two possibilities—BCA or CAB (Note: everyone should shift his place). Then suppose there are N people who are giving their oral reports respectively at N places. And after they all have done once, everyone should shift their place. Here comes the question: How many possibilities are there in this situation? It seems like a simple math problem and we have done lots of exercises similar to it when we are in senior high school. But I can promise you that it is an elementary but a little difficult problem which is also interesting. I realized this problem after three people finishing their oral reports on Thursday last week. Having thought it for a long time, I solved this problem with Wu Yu’s help. The answer is “ i=2N N!/i!* (-1)^i in term of N. I am very happy to find this problem and solve it eventually. From this, you can also see the strong relationship between life and math. The appearance of math was based on life and was to make people's lives more convenient. Although sometimes the development of math seemed detached from all the materials we discover in reality, all the important progresses in math originated from the progresses in human's perspectives towards the world. For example, the development from calculus to analysis was greatly influenced by the development in industries. Mathematics is powerful and mysterious. I love it.

An Example of Mentalism

The two concepts--唯心主义and唯物主义--are mentalism and materialism which are two doctrines in philosophy. The former means that mind is the true reality and that objects exist only as aspects of the mind's awareness. In contrast, the latter means that matter is the only reality.
Maybe the mentalism is not very acceptable. To illustrate, now, suppose you are sitting alone in a room (suppose the room is the whole world) and there is a vase behind you and when you turn back, you can see the vase and when you turn round, you cannot see it, isn't it? You can say that because you have seen there is a vase, even if you cannot see it, the vase is still there. But the argumentation is not sufficient. And there is another perspective to explain the thing. I can suppose that only when you turn back and look, the vase is there and when you turn round and cannot see the place where the vase was put, the vase disappear. In other words, the vase appears just when you turn back and look the place where the vase was put. Please pay attention to the bold phrase in the last sentence. “Turn back and look the place where the vase was put” describes an action. And when you take this action, you can see a vase. Surely, you can also do other actions, for example, you do not need to turn back and when you put a mirror in front of you, you can also see the vase. You can take a lot of actions as possible as you can to see the vase. But now, you sit forward and you cannot see the vase. Only when you take some actions can you see the vase, isn’t? Therefore, I can make a principle for the world (the room). Only when one in this world (the room) take some proper actions, a vase appear in that place where you have seen a vase before. And when you do nothing or take some wrong actions, for example, looking the ceiling, the vase do not appear. My principle can also explain the thing, isn’t? But you may ask why the world (the room) should obey my principle and I am not the God. Yes, I must admit I have no right to create principles for the world. But in the meantime everyone should admit my principle is also a correct perspective to explain the thing. Actually, all the thing I explained to you just now is a kind of mentalism. Isn’t it mysterious?

As the research project carries on, I find that I have learned a lot during these weeks. Not only does my knowledge but also the capability have been improved. Today, I would like to review my achievement in the past 4 weeks’ project work and share it with you.
Firstly, there is no doubt that I have learned much about how to do a research, including choosing a topic, designing a questionnaire and analyzing graphs and charts. In my view, the most important thing is the knowledge of how to avoid plagiarism, which, to be more specific, is to use citations. It is the first time that I am exposed to the rigorous definition of plagiarism and realize the significance of respecting to other people’s opinions and works in citations. Although paraphrasing and taking notes on the detailed information of the sources seem to be a little bit troublesome, I appreciate it since it demonstrates the preciseness with regard to academic work.
Furthermore, the experience of distributing questionnaires offers me more opportunities to communicate with unfamiliar people. It is really unforgettable as I seldom handed out questionnaires before. When I was lingering in science canteen, everyone around me seemed to be busy either in eating or studying, which made me stiff and upset. However, after “catching” several people who were playing their mobile phones to help me finish the paper, things began to work smoothly. Although it was embarrassed sometimes when I disturbed other people and received a “No”, most students were really kind and helpful to do me a favor. In our further study and work, it is inevitable to come across such situations in which we have to ask for strangers’ help. Thanks to this kind of experience, I will be more confident to communicate with other people in an appropriate way next time.
Last but not least, I really enjoy the teamwork with my classmates. Just several minutes ago, I received their suggestions for my introduction writing and we exchanged our ideas for data processing. It is incredible that every one of us contributes to the work in different aspects, which integrates the whole project afterwards. Moreover, the communication atmosphere in our team is also pleasant since we try our best to appreciate others’ brilliant opinions in order to reach an agreement at last.
As a whole, I have been equipped with the useful knowledge of doing a research as well as the capability to communicate with either strangers or friends. Hopefully, I can obtain more knowledge and skills in the following weeks and come out a successful research report together with my friends:).

Blog7.:Reflections of Bejing Love Story

I watched this TV series with my roommates one month ago. The story is mainly about the complex relationships between a group of people in Beijing. The first male protagonist chooses the money and the career then breaks up with his girlfriend. While the second protagonist gives up all he possesses to pursue that woman consistently and finally finds his true love with that woman.       Today, my topic is not about true love. What I want to emphasis is that love needs to be built on the basis of material.  Although "True Love" is always being praised, love should also be based on the material.  Love is something about spiritual level which you can never eat as bread.Lacking material basis is one of the major reason why people divorce. Stress builds up when people don't have money but have bills to pay.  Then quarrels happen as a result of upsets and irritableness.  If this continues over a long period of time, spouses will feel resentful towards each other. They will struggle at most of their time spent together, which might lead to divorce.        Therefore, from my perspective, people should work hard to improve their financial status.(By the way, it is merely my opinion). Best wishes.

Complaint

Several days ago, I read the news that two Chinese students were shot in BMW in Los Angeles at dawn. I was really shocked and upset. I regret for themselves, friends and relatives. However, when I searched for more details, I lost my temper. So many netizens said that they deserved it, because the two victims must be the second generation of the wealthy or the official in China, since they could go abroad for education and owned a BMW. In addition, they also predicted that they must have gone out for entertainment so that they were outside so late. This mindset is really absurd. I cannot imagine how many people become so cold.
The emotion of objecting to the official and the wealthy is so serious in China. Therefore, media added “BMW” in news to stimulate people, which hurt the relatives of the victims. In fact, both students were very hardworking and frugal and the reason why they drove their second-hand car back to the dorm so late is that they devoted too much time to experiments. I remember our tutor once told us it is common for college students to buy a second-hand car. What they need to do is to do part-time jobs for several months. Due to people’s lack of common sense, the emotion of overseas students is hurt severely, including me.
Some of doctors are not moral so that they try our best to get much more than what they deserve for curing a person; some officers are greedy so that they use power to get more profit for themselves; some rich men are pretentious so that they show off the luxury and villas they own. They should be looked down upon, but it does not mean all of the rich, the wealthy and doctors should be sentenced to death. This phenomenon shows people’s cruelty and coldness. Actually, they just envy that high-ups or successors can enjoy what they own. To be honest, a large number of them also want to be a member of those groups. Having complained so much, I just want to say that life is precious and fragile. Please give respect to life and do not gossip without the fact.

Good Friday Last Friday was Good Friday, the day when the Jesus died. We got to the church to see the multi-media experiential drama called “The Final Hours”, which was used to celebrate this big day and gave us a brand new feeling about Jesus. The drama is divided into 9 parts. The most impressive parts are the “Last Supper” and “Scourging of Jesus”. In the “Last Supper”, Judas Iscariot was very grateful to decide to betray Jesus. In his mind, Jesus is esteemed and admirable. From the drama, I can see the reason why he betrayed Jesus is that he wanted Jesus to prove himself as a son of god and show his ominousness, not he was greedy for the 30 coins. Although the actor is not professional, he tried his best to show the inside mind in Judas and used his tears to affect us. The second part is “Scourging of Jesus”. It was not acted by actors but played by video. However, it was also the most glorious and impressive part. The merchants were thirsty for the death of Jesus, and he also wants to isolate him because he was supported and admired by many people, as a result of which, they greased the warden to torture and scourge Jesus. Therefore, the video showed us that the ruthless and brutal soldiers were whipping and teasing Jesus but Jesus did not surrender to them and complain about his suffer. He just suffered it silently. The video specifically showed the tragic scene to us, which made us feel sympathy for Jesus. In conclusion, the drama gave us the different feeling and impression about Jesus.

blog 6 renren

Nowadays a lot of college students in China like to use a social network named as renren, which I believe to a large extend is the Chinese version of Facebook. I have a renren account, too. I realise that an immense number of student have been addicted to it. Those students place too much focus on renren that actually they have wasted too much precious time which should be spent on their study. I think there are three main reasons on this phenomena. Firstly, psychologically people are naturally afraid of being isolated. Once they have a way to be or seemingly to be in the groups they feel safe and they do not to be parted from the groups any more. Renren just offers those who want to be connected with others all the time a great stage to meet their requirements. Secondly, college students think they are thoughtful and unique that the ideas they came up with should be praised or gotten recognitions by others. Therefore, students on renren are posting their opinions or ideas about a recent event all the time and they never seem to be tired of doing so. Thirdly, students nowadays are faced with pressures all the time and the older they are, the more intensive the pressure will be. However, they could not find someone who understand them and is willing to spend his or her time listen to them because everyone has their own work to do. Fortunately, renren offers a stage for them to show their emotions, to complain and relieve their stress. You will not be surprised if you see some negative thoughts which are discussed and supported by many people on renren. By supporting those negative points of view which some students thought they could be regarded as mature mesn because they seemed to know more negative side of the society.
I appeal that we should use renren much less frequently and more appropriately than we use now, otherwise I don’t see any benefits we could have from it.

blog 5 Triangle

Recently I watched a movie whose name is triangle, which I liked very much. And here I want to give a short introduction to the movie, hopefully after which you would like to watch it. The movie is mainly about a circulation, or to be more specific-a circulation of death. The name of the main character is Jessy, who is a single mother and loves her son very much. She went to sea with her friends for a trip, but during their trip there came a storm which destroyed their ship. After a few hours there was a ship passing by and they managed to board on the ship. Unfortunately, there seemed nobody on the ship. While they were searching for help, a person whose head was covered with a bag showed up and shoot all the Jessy’s friends to death, but Jessy managed to killed that person by pushing him into the sea. At this time Jessy was standing on the deck and found that she and her friends were waving their hands in a distance, trying to board on the boat, which means times went back to that point which they just had seen the boat…
I love this movie and there are much more than I have introduced about movie, and I do suggest everyone who likes to do brainstorms should watch it. You would regret if you do not give it a shot I promise!

Blog6: The Good Friday

Last Friday is Good Friday which is celebrated for the
death of Jesus, and honouredly we were invited by Mrs.Lim to the
Good Friday Drama in Woodlands. Thanks to this, we learned a lot
about Christianity.

There were 9 stations, including Palm Sunday, Trail of
Jesus, The Last Supper, Garden of Gethsemane, Trail before Pilate
and Herod, Via Dolorosa, Crucifixion and Resurrection. This drama
showed how Jesus was betrayed, catched, tortured and killed
. I like the station 3--The Last Supper best. In this
station, Judas showed his extreme sore and acute thinking before
he worked out on Jesus. By using valid expression and excited
voice, the actor of Judas performed so well.

Nevertheless, I also know more about the death of Jesus.
Once I wondered that althought Jesus was the son of God and had
great power, he was tortured by normal human and died. The first
reason is that he wanted to sufer for us who are evil and blunder a
lot and to purge us. The second reason is that the God thought that he was not so
close with human beings, so he came down as Jesus and built a
strong relationship with us by dying for us.

Finally, I got a deeper understanding about God with
Mrs.Lim's explanation of God. Actually, God is not a specific man
or creature who have great power; God is something beyond this.
Personally, God is also beyond the nature and he(it/they?) is
(is/are?) the rule or principle( like the constant G in physics) which subtlely
controls anything or maintains anything. Otherwise, God is
someone who ensures the rule of nature. It is very abstract, right?
No wonder many scientists believe in God.

In short, last Friday was a good day, and I attained much
interesting knowledge and some fantastic ideas.

Blog 6:Good Friday, Good Experience.

Last friday was Good Friday, a national holiday in Singapore.  Frankly, I never have any relevant activity on the day in China.  Luckily, Ms Lim, my mentor, invited me to see a mobile drama named the Final Hour with her and some of my classmate.  That was totally new for me because I was not familiar with Christianism before.          However , it was really attractive for me.  After going through the nine stations, I got a roughly idea about Jesus’ last few hours before he was nailed on the cross.  I was especially impressed by the final station, called Resurrection.  The song was beautiful and emotional.  It showed me the passion of people who had witness the resurrection of Jesus. “You are the light”, they sang.  I was moved and realized that faith can keep hopes alive.        After the end the mobile drama, a man came onto the stage and talked to us for a while.  What he said was really interested and I started to think something about Christianism.  It was not because the “myth” that drew my attention or made me doubt about that, for I had not enough evidence or knowledge to judge it .  But the I totally agreed with the ideas and thoughts which he shared with us.  I think Christianism is a good religion to believe in, which, if possible, will absolutely be my first choice.  There are many thoughts which are significant for human beings.
After this experience, I learned many things about Jesus and Bible.  I also gained more interest in Christianism.  Thank you Ms Lim, thank you Singapore.

Blog 6 My reflection about service program

The Service Program organized by MOE has begun in last two weeks. I think I really learned a lot from it and had a good time.

On April 1, we attended the first day’s service training program in Singapore Zoo together with NTU students.  We were divided into many groups, and our group trainer is Bobbie.  She is very experienced and really taught us a lot.  After one day’s training, I realized the importance of making plans before taking actions.  And I also learned some special methods in making plans.  Besides, we also took this chance to tour in the zoo for free.  It is wonderful.

On April 8, we took the second class of our program in Singapore Sports School for half a day.  I was amazed at the two big swimming pools in that school.  I couldn’t believe that a middle school should have so good facilities.  This time I learned how to make schedules and what is team work.  We made our plan and schedule together and decided to raise some money to help with homeless children the next day.

Today, April 9, we began our honor job.  We stood in front of the Engineering Canteen in NUS, holding the poster, donation box and board we made last night in order to raise some money.  We were amazed that so many people are willing to donate money to us.  At last, we collected 240 dollars in one noon.  Initially, we had just planned to get 85 dollars in ten days.  After knowing the result, I understood the meaning of sense of achievement.

This Service Program is really meaningful and gave me so many new experiences.  I believe we will experience more in the next two month.

A Birthday Gift

To be honest, in the terms of housework, I am really a lazy girl.  I had not cook by myself until last Friday midnight since I came to Singapore in December.  No wonder you want to know why I cooked at the midnight on last Friday.  Well, a friend of my dorm mate and I would have her 19th birthday on last Saturday.  My dorm mate and I had intended to treat her to dinner in a Chongqing hotpot restaurant to celebrate her first birthday in Singapore.  Although we had decided which restaurant we would go to, this girl who would have birthday did not agree to eat outside.  Later, we had another plan to give her a surprise!

In the afternoon on last Friday, my roommate went to the Fair Price near Labrador Lodge to buy foodstuff, such as noodles, coriander, tomatoes, eggs, and chicken stock.  And as a person who had several cooking experiences, I would use these sorts of foodstuff to cook a bowl of noodles for our friend.  In China, according to custom, a bowl of noodles which is called “Chang Shou Mian” is necessary for a birthday.  And the old said “Chang Shou Mian” can bring person who eat it good luck, good health and longevity.  Since we planned to give this bowl of noodles to her at the midnight as a surprising gift, I had to cook at 11 pm.  Due to the lack of pot, I used egg poacher to cook the noodles.  It was really the first time that I used new tool to cook.  What an unforgettable memory it was!
Fortunately, eventually there were delicious noodles inside the egg poacher.  Having seen her eating the noodles I cooked, I felt joyful too.  Through this little stuff in my life, I really felt that giving the people rose, the hands have lingering fragrance.

Essay 6 :Reflections about the Singapore zoo

Last week, because of the training lesson of service learning, we went to the Singapore zoo.  It’s very lucky to visit the zoo for free.  Traveling there, I saw a completely different zoo with zoos in China.
What the Singapore zoo impressed me most is the way that people interact with animals.  Most animals I see are playing joyfully in a large area.  Compared to the Singapore zoo, zoos in China is more like a prison for animals. Animals are kept in cages or a small room in many Chinese zoos.  They don’t have much space for leisure. Every time I visited these zoos, they seemed sleepy and out of energy.  I can’t help to think that animals are kept there just for the bring tourists enough fun.  On the contrary, the zoo in Singapore is more humanistic.  And animals there seemed not to fear humans. Even though sometimes people just pass by, some animals just stay still and peaceful.  They seem to have a close relationship with people.  I’m happy to see this scene.
The scenes in the movie the rise of ape couldn’t help to come up to my mind.  Apes are treated badly in the animal care center.  At last apes gather together to bid defiance to people's maltreat. I hope in the real world people can take care more about animals and the scene in the movie will never happen in the real world.

Blog6 Some Random Thoughts about Our Research Project

These days, we all have started our research project. So how’s it going now, fellows? Our group have just finished a draft questionnaire today. A little slower? Indeed, but do not focus on these petty things. As a proverb says, “more haste, less speed”. In fact, we had considered three topics before we made it sure.

Every topic seemed viable at the beginning. But the former two turned out to be ill-considered halfway, after many discussions with our supervisor, Mrs Choo.

The first one aimed at finding the best flight ticket for Chinese students in Singapore to travel or go home. At that time we thought it a good idea because every student here has the same concern about the tickets; maybe some are concerned about the price, some the safety and some the route. So we finished the proposal part and elatedly waited for Mrs Choo’s approval. But after some discussion with Mrs Choo and some careful thinking, we disapproved of it. The reason was simple. It was too superficial. We could only do a survey, then finished. Despite the concern, students can easily their seniors who are from China. The project based on this topic would not be practical or very useful.

Then Mrs Choo gave us a prompt. We could do research about different travelling, such as learning journey, free and easy travel, volunteer vocation etc. Then the aim was changed to find out which manner is the best for different tourist attractions as well as for different students. Unfortunately, our group members could not accept it after mulling, because it was a little difficult for us to handle. None of us was familiar with this area and we could not guarantee most of the students here were interested in this topic. So we changed our battlefield to one more another, and decided to go down this way. Now you may understand why we seem to “move”
slowly.

You may also wonder what the third one is after reading what I said above. Don’t worry; we can surely finish it on time, because we have already known the direction to go to. And when the presentation date comes, you will know the answer!

Blog 6: My visit to the church last Friday

Last Friday is the Good Friday,a public holiday. Our tutor asked whether we would go to the church with her to watch a drama. Since I did not have other plans, I went to see the drama. Ms Lim is so kind that she promised that she would picked us at our hotel. It was also surprising that when we went out, Ms Lim had already waited there. The church is located in the north part of Singapore while we girls live in the south. However, Singapore is so small that it only took us 30minutes to get to the church. I was surprised to find that the church is so modern, for I always think that the church should be have a quaint style.

The drama we watched is very interesting. It is a mobile drama, that is to say we have to go down the path to watch every scene of the drama. Although the actors are not professional, I can feel their devotion to the drama. This also taught me a lesson that no matter you are good at it or not, once you put your heart into it, the audience will feel the glamor you radiate. We do not need any angst, just do it. Of all the nine stations, I like the ninth station. It was a kind of musical drama. I was touched by the beautiful song. I may not understand the meaning of the song , but I can feel the joy when the actors song it.

After watching the drama, we were served for some snacks and drinks. There Ms Lim introduced us a woman who is also a Christian. She told us a lot about Jesus. Later we learned that she is a product of NUS, majoring in computer science. She also introduced her husband, who also graduated from SOC in NUS, to us. From that man, I know that university can not only teach us knowledge but also the ability to handle difficulty in our career.

In a word, I think both the drama and the conversation that day teach me a lot of things. I will treasure that.

Blog 6: Attending a Church

On Good Friday my host family invited my fellow Zhu Xin and me to attend a church. Seeing it as a good opportunity to be exposed to a new culture, I decided to go this time. It turned out to be a fascinating experience and I was deep impressed by the church’s modern facilities, the speakers and the atmosphere.
The most impressive thing to me was that the church, which I stereotyped as old and ancient, in fact was a quiet modern one. First, the exterior of the building was well designed. The wall was painted pale, with a dark brown slogan” God is Lord” above the bright and broad glass door, which reminded me of some coffee bar. Second, the auditorium was capacious and bright, much newer and more attractive compared to any auditorium in NUS that I had ever been to. Modern instruments and other electronic devices were neatly displayed on the platform, and there were three big screens on the wall to provide best visual effect. Finally, even the toilets were in rather good condition. Besides its cleanness and good ventilation, plants were placed there as a decoration. In short, the church was in very good condition.
Another thing that amazed me was the speakers that day. There was a young couple and an entrepreneur who delivered their speeches respectively. At first the couple grabbed my attention simply because the female looked sweet and attractive. But later, when they shared their life experience and how God blessed them through their life, I was deep moved by their faith and their harmonious relationship. However, it was the speech of Elim Chew, a distinguished entrepreneur who founded the clothes store 77th street, that impressed me the most. Not performing well in school when young, Elim Chew had an ambition of becoming a millionaire, which would never come true according to her teachers. Years later, however, the woman eventually achieved her dream. In her speech, she told of how God helped her get over the obstacles on her way to success and it was very impressive. All in all, I was really amazed by the stories of the speakers.
Apart from the facilities and the speakers, the special atmosphere in the church also left an impression on me. The church started with the orchestra performing some pieces of peaceful songs and people greeting each other around them, which brought along a harmonious and pleasant atmosphere. Moreover, the process involved some interactions between the audience and those who were on the platform, like singing songs together, so that everyone took part. Besides this, The climax of the church was at the end, when all the people stood on their feet and sang melodious songs about God and the auditorium was filled with holly and peaceful air. Briefly, the unique atmosphere of the church impressed me.
To conclude, this experience of attending the church was a really amazing one, through which I learned more about Singapore’s culture, especially in terms of religion. However, immersed in such a multi-cultural society with vibrant religious influence, we should be cautious about our own beliefs rather than simply give in to any of these religion groups.

Blog 6 Reflections of Titanic

Last Friday, I, with many friends, watched the 3D movie Titanic in Vivocity. It has been my third time to watch it, but every time, I had different reflections. Although I had already known the whole plot, I was still being touched again. After having watched, my mood was down, because I felt very sorry for the miserable experience of the couple of lovers, Jack and Rose. Their selfless love moved me deeply and for me, it was a pity that they did not survive and live happily together.
There are many unforgetable conversations betwwen them. One is that "you jump, I jump". That is true, because they both had chances to survive if they did not stick to stay together, but they both decided to live or die together. From my perspective, the love that is protected by life is the true one. Another sentence is that "It was the luckiest thing in my life to take on this ship and meet you", said Jack to Rose when Jack floated on the freezing cold water. When I heard this sentence, I could not help holding back my tears any more. There was not a single regret in Jack's mind, and it showed the great love. I admire Jack very much, for he did all that a real man should do to his lover. And he even gave the opportunity to survive to his lover without any hesitatiion.
The classical movie also leads to my thinking about love that the true love is really powerful, which even can help people conquer the fear to death.
May the true lovers all over the world could live together happily.

lBlog 6: Titanic, not only about love

After finishing 3D in the vivo city Golden Village yesterday, while many people were moved by the true love between Rose and Jack, what impressed me most is Rose’s determination for her simple but meaningful life.
In the movie, Rose was a girl who loved arts very much, including the paintings of Picasso. However, her fiancé cared about politics; her mother thought about making money; her friends knew nothing but luxuries. All these made Rose regard her rest of life as the most miserable, with diamonds, complicated relationships but no true happiness, kinship and love. She did not realize how desperately he wanted to escape from the so called “upper lives” until she met Jack, whose carefree attitudes towards life reminded her of the thirst from the bottom of her heart. In her life, she needed to be well-dressed, obey complex etiquette, and meet a lot people she did not want to but had to meet because she was born in a noble family but Rose sought for lives in which she could do whatever following her own will. As a result, she fell love with Jack and broke up with her fiancé.
I do not mean to omit their true love; however, what is more important is the pursuit of simple but meaningful lives, which benefit us physically, mentally as well as spiritually. Many sought relief from KTVs, cinemas or even drugs to escape from the stress and the anxiety in modern society, in which we concentrated on how to keep in good relationship with business partners, how to get a job with a higher salary, how to find a spouse with a lot of money. The real aim for living, in contrast, it to be happy, which requires the pursuit of rich spirit.
Finally, I sincerely hope we can find our thirsts and try our best to lead the lives that we really want, as Jack said, make everyday count.

Blog 6 Service learning programme

Last week, I took part in the workshop of Service Learning Programme which taught us how to transform the ideas into action in serving and learning in communities. Today, I would like to share with you the useful knowledge I have learned in this course.

Generally speaking, Service-learning involves direct and indirect action. Direct service means we directly respond to a community need, for example, some of us have taken part in the Give programme in which we interact with the students who are in need of our help. However, indirect service allows students to build infrastructure or capacity to respond to the community need, in other words, we impact the service recipients in an indirect way.

There are five stages of service learning. The first stage is investigation, which requires us to probe into the need of the community and to have a clear idea about our abilities. The most impressive part for me was to match our capability as much as possible to the community need, which suddenly reminded me that we could make a big difference to the society based on what we had learned. The second stage is preparation and planning. In this section, we chose the project which could transform our knowledge into practice to a great extent. In our group, we decided to help the autistic children. By drawing a table on a big poster, we also managed to work out the schedule for our programme. The third stage, which is the most important part, is action. Although we have not reached this part yet, we are working hard to figure out the most effective way to carry it out, for it is not easy to communicate with children with autism. Furthermore, we are willing to learn more about this special group of people throughout the whole process. After finishing the action part, here comes the fourth section, called reflection. Obviously, it is of vital importance for us to reflect on the service-learning journey, since it can evaluate how the experience, knowledge, and skills we are acquiring relate to our own lives as well as the community. Ultimately, we need to step in the last stage to demonstrate our achievements and in the meantime, celebrate for the sake of our successful work. On account of this, we also need to submit a report at the end of our service-learning programme, to show our influence and accomplishments.

In conclusion, I am really excited to have the opportunity to join in the service-learning programme, for not only can I contribute to the society by direct service, but also have the chance to be involved in the process of designing the whole project. From my perspective, only by engaging in the activity we are willing to do sincerely, can we make a big difference. I am looking forward to participating in the programme in the following weeks and I hope I can serve and learn as much as possible in this programme.
