Blog 7 "5C" of Singaporeans

The topic of my blog today is about the pursuit of Singaporeans. Mr.Ng introduced the "5C" to us. Here comes the "5C" I found from the Internet: car, credit card, cash, condominium, clubcard. "Condominium" refers to a type of private department. Now I'm going to put forward my opinions on the "5C".

I have to say that the Singaporeans are keen on the material comforts. Car, cash, and credit card are all the symbols of wealth. Actually, this is reproachless for them. It is hard for them not to pursue the cozy life when they live in such a "comfortable" city. The ordinary Singaporeans get married and start their family, sets up a company and participate in some charity activities. They often choose to travel abroad in their leisure time. These are the components of the standard life of Singaporeans. From my perspective, this prosaic life seems short of passion and excitement, especially for the youths. Just as Mr.Wu Zuodong addressed in a party, although Singapore will continue to develop in the future, the youths of Singapore should not attach too much importance on the side of substance. They are expected to do their best for their future goals.

This is the new "5C" which was advocated by Mr. Wu: Career, Comfort, Children, Considerate, and Charitable. Here I want to talk about "Children" and "Considerate". "Children" means surrounding oneself children, which is kind of interesting. My understanding is that the youths should enjoy making friends with children, whose childlike innocence can provide smart ideas and keep the adults from the temptation of money and reputation. As for “Considerate”, I reckon that consideration can render harmonious interpersonal relationships to people. Some Singaporeans need to strengthen their sense of responsibility. They are expected to make contribution to the development of the country. For instance, the water issue of Singapore has not been tackled yet. Maybe they ought to concentrate more on the domestic events.

This is my viewpoint on the “5C” of Singaporeans. It is time for them to make some changes on their pursuit.

  1. I think you meant 'apartment' and not 'department'

Thanks for telling us about the new 5 Cs: 'Considerate' is an adjective whereas the other 4 are all nouns. Are you referring to 'Compassion'?

  2. Indeed, material alone cannot offer true elavation. On the other hand, without any material, we would also fail to make the happiness last for a long time. I think the balance is the most important.

  3. the 5c is a pursuit behind the time. nowadays, too many people are pursuing the material life. greed is a sin of human beings. so it is hard to persusade people not to pursue wealth. 5c is just the concerete symbol of wealth.
