Old and shabby as Laborador Lodge is, as
we concluded on Monday, one of the a few things worth mentioning is that it is close
to the south west coast where Laborador Nature Reserve is located. Students in
LL like going to the coast for exercise, relaxing and entertainment.
I go to the seaside periodically. This
afternoon, after we came back to the dorm, I decided to walk to the coast for
relaxing. Umbrella in hand in case of rain, I walked along the sideway. It was
mild then, and I could only encounter one passerby or two every now and then. There
were tall trees and meadows on either side of the road, where birds kept
twittering and insects were performing a symphony. I felt pleased by the sound
of nature and my mind free because of the peaceful surroundings.
The coast was quieter than what I usually
saw as there was no fisherman fishing and less people around. The sea lay vast
and mighty, and the sun was dipping towards the horizon. Sprays were chasing
one after another, swirling and pattering the rocks on the shore. It was the
best time for the mind to wander, so I sat on a bench, gazing into the sea,
inhaling the salty and moisture air, and enjoyed this peaceful period of moment.
As I walked along the path along the coast, I saw a small black dead fish lying at the corner of a pole. It had
already a bit rotted, ants all over its body. I thought it must have been
abandoned by a fisherman who had caught it. The scene gave me a feeling that
life was delicate and fragile, and could end at any time. Thus we had no reason
not to cherish every day we live, and no reason not to be ourselves and appreciate
what we possess in life.
On the way back to the dorm, I felt my
mind clearer and more energetic. How great it was to get close to the
nature, to enjoy and appreciate life.
Really good enough. Through your words, I can almost feel what you were feeling then. And I could not agree you more on that life will be more wonderful if you cherish it every moment. And hope you can enjoy your life everyday.
